OREANDA-NEWS. June 9, 2012. Orsk power engineers plan to invest over one million rubles to implement the Luminous Region Program. By the end of this year, specialists of the production department will replace uncoated wires of the overhead power transmission lines with self-carrying insulated wires (SIP), install new reinforced concrete supports and mount energy-saving street lamps. To successfully complete the Luminous Region Program in 2013, this year the staff of the production department will carry out the design and survey works. Another activities to be performed by power engineers in Orsk include: replacement of 4 transformers, installation of 66 electric power supports, routing of self-carrying insulated wires (12 kilometers) and installation of 209 street lamps. Launched in the Orenburg region in 2008, the Luminous Region Program was intended to address a number of challenges commonly encountered in all Russian rural communities, e.g. ensuring comfortable living conditions for rural dwellers, road safety both for vehicles and passengers, etc. In 2011, the program covered 12 regions, where the power engineers installed over 1,600 street lamps. This year, Orenburgenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC will spend about 25 million rubles to implement the Luminous Region Program.
