OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2012. The respective agreement was signed by Premier of Moldova Vladimir Filat and Vice President of EIB Wilhelm Molterer. Implementation of the project will help increase the capacity and improve the reliability of the Moldovan electricity transmission system bringing it more closely into line with to the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity standards (ENTSO-E).

The project includes the rehabilitation of key transmission assets, such as substations, transmission lines and transformers).

According to the Moldovan Premier, the agreement will help Moldova achieve one of its most important goals in the energy sector, namely to diversify energy sources.

Vladimir Filat mentioned that our country has well-defined legislative basis in the energy area and the energy efficiency fund, organized recently, is designed to implement the plans mapped out. EIB funds will support the rehabilitation of electricity infrastructure which is crucial for the further development of Moldova’s economy.
