According to the release made by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council, relating to the 2011 patent information of central enterprises, the ranking of patents owned by MCC has risen steadily and the details are as follows:

MCC ranks the 1st among all central enterprises in terms of the valid patent number in 2011, in comparison with the 6th in 2010. By the end of 2011, MCC owns a total of 5984 patents, up by 53% from 3912 in 2010, and such a growth rate is higher than the average rate (34.9%) of the central enterprises. Of the valid patents, patents for innovation also grow rapidly. In 2010, MCC owned 491 patents for innovation totally and ranks 15th among the central enterprises; by the end of 2011, this number soars to 964, up by 96.3% and ranking 13th.

In terms of new patent application, MCC applies for 2886 patents in 2011, rising by 16.4% from 2010 and still ranking the 10th among the central enterprises. Of the 2886 patents, 1003 are the patents that are newly applied for, up by 20.8% from 2010. The number of patents for invention accounts for 34.8% of the total of the patents applied for in 2011. The ranking of MCC in the aspect of patents newly applied for falls to the 6th in 2011 from the 4th in 2010.

As for the granted patents, 2011 sees MCC acquire 2166 ones, up by 22.4% from 2010 and ranking the 7th among all central enterprises in comparison with the 10th in 2010. Of all granted patents, there are 484 granted patents for invention, up by 96% from 2010 and such a growth rate is higher than that of the total number.

The number of granted patents for invention accounts for 22.3% of the total granted patents in comparison with the national average rate of 17.9%. MCC’s ranking in the aspect of granted patent ranking remains the 3rd place among all central enterprises in 2011.
