OREANDA-NEWS.  September 25, 2012. Premier of Moldova Vladimir Filat voiced at the lunching ceremony that this is the first example of eco-friendly energy generation in Moldova and the second one in Europe, since the like plant had been built in Hungary.

The plan is important from the both points of view: environmental and economic, because the production is based on renewable sources development. “According to the Development Strategy of Moldova -2020, in 8 years 20% of energy has to be generated from alternative sources. The plant in Drochia will help us to achieve this goal. I hope it will become a lead to follow for other companies” the Premier said. The plant is to be put into service in 2013 and its budget makes up 7.5 mln. euros, with the term of recoupment being about 5 years.

The designed annual capacity of the plant amounts to 7.3 mln. c.m. of the gas, containing 51% of methane and 29%-43% of carbon acid. The plan is going to work on pressed pulp within the first 2 years and then to switch over all green waste of sugar beet. In the sugar production season some amounts of the pulp will be stored and others will be processed in biogas, which is to replace 13015% of natural gas used for sugar production. When sugar is not produced the biogas will be used to generate power.

The amount of power production is planned to be 1.8MW of which 0.3MW will be consumed by the plan itself and another 1.5 MW will be sold to Red Nord. Biogas production will help to reduce green gas pollution and use its byproduct is an effective biological fertilizer. Within 15 years of its activity in the market of Moldova Sudzucker Moldova has invested in the sugar production over 480 mln. leis. In 2011 the company produced 63,2 thou. t. of sugar, which was 71,4% of a total amount of the sugar produced in Moldova.

At present, the sugar market of Moldova is shared by three operators: Magt-Vest ,Moldova-Zahar, Sudzucker Moldova.
