OREANDA-NEWS. January 18, 2013. Doctor Web announces an update to its Dr.Web SelfPROtect module incorporated into the eighth version of the Dr.Web Security Space and Dr.Web Anti-virus for Windows.

The module has been updated in order to avoid errors that might arise as a result of the upcoming update of installation packages.

The update will be performed automatically; however, a system reboot will be required.

Dr. Web is a Russian anti-virus company, as well as its flagship software suite. It was first released in 1992, and became the first anti-virus service in Russia.

The software offers anti-virus and anti-spam solutions and is used by Yandex, Russia's biggest search provider, to scan e-mail attachments. There is also an add-on for Firefox which checks links with the online version of Dr. Web. Dr. Web discovered the Flashback variant that affected more than 600,000 Macs.
