OREANDA-NEWS. March 20, 2013. Spring field works are underway in Ukraine. The sowing campaign is going on in 6 regions. Nowadays already over 454 thousand hectares were sown with winter crops. Moreover, targeting to conduct the spring field campaign in optimal agro-technical terms the agriculture producers are supplied 102% with seeds, 109% with fertilizers and 80% with means of protection of plants.

This was informed by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhniuk.

Thus far the sowing of early winter grain crops and leguminous plants was fulfilled on 454 thousand hectares or on 15% from the forecast area.

“In Crimean AR 90.9 thousand hectares were sown with winter crops which makes up 102% from the planned number, 130.5 thousand hectares (69%) in Odessa, in Kherson region – 126,9 thousand hectares (82%), in Mykolayiv – 59,4 thousand hectares (67%), Zaporizhzhya – 37,2 thousand hectares (17%), Dnipropetrovsk – 5,9 thousand hectares (3%) and Donetsk – 3,6 thousand hectares (2%),” the head of the department informed.

Besides, the Minister added that agriculture producers are provided with seeds, fertilizers, means of protection of plants.

“Taking into account transition balance the agrarians possess 1057 thousand tons of fertilizers or 109% from the planned amount, which is by 20% more as compared to last year. Agriculture producers have sufficient volumes of protection means. With general need in 29.1 thousand tons there were purchased 23.3 thousand tons of 80%. Also the economies bought 872 tons of mordants which makes up 98%. Supplies with seeds of winter crops and leguminous plants (without corn) makes up 726.2 thousand tons or 102% from the planned amount,” the Minister informed. 

It should be noted that at the preliminary data of the regions all the sown area under the yield of 2013 is expected at the level 27.6 million hectares or 100.4% from the level of 2012. The areas of grain crops, according to the preliminary data, will make up 16.2 million hectares or 58.8% which corresponds to the norms of optimal balance of cultures in crop rotation process.
