OREANDA-NEWS. May 31, 2013. The HSE Regulations and Enforcement Directorate of Qatar Petroleum recently organized a one-day workshop on the sharing of good practices in sustainable development reporting as part of the energy and industry sector’s preparation for the 2013 Sustainable Development Industry Report (SDIR).

Mr. Saif Saed Al-Naimi, Director of QP’s HSE Regulations & Enforcement Directorate, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy & Industry, Chairman of Qatar Petroleum for his guidance and support to the SDIR program.

The workshop, which was held at Sharq Village & Spa, was attended by 95 key HSE personnel representing up to 30 companies from Qatar’s oil and gas sector. The participants provided valuable inputs in continuously improving the sustainable development reporting process.

The workshop featured speakers from QP also from the Qatar Statistics Authority, Ernst & Young, RasGas Company Limited, Dolphin Energy, Qatar Steel, Mesaieed Power Company and Qatar Fuel Additives Company (QAFAC). The presentations focused on the role of industry reporting on the environment statistics of Qatar, external assurance and verification of sustainability reporting, and good practices in reporting achievements, challenges and focus areas.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Al-Naimi thanked the oil and gas operators for their commitment and contribution to the sustainable development reporting initiative as it enters its fourth reporting year, stressing that the program is in line with the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2011-2016.
