OREANDA-NEWS. Lenovo and Intel Corporation announced availability in several markets of the Lenovo K900 Smartphone, the world’s first smartphone based on the latest Intel® Atom™ Z2580 processor. With this week's addition of Thailand and Malaysia to markets already selling the K900, Lenovo has now upped the number of countries receiving the new smartphone to eight with more to be announced this summer.

Already the world’s third-largest producer of “smart connected devices”, Lenovo expects the K900 will appeal to customers around the world looking for sleek design, high quality and the latest innovations in smartphone technology. The device offers a large display, high-end camera and other features popular with customers in key, emerging markets in Asia. The K900 also distinguishes itself with a unique, eye-catching design and Intel’s powerful, cutting-edge mobile processor.

By year end, Lenovo plans to offer the K900 smartphone in 10 new markets in addition to the current set, which includes China, India, Indonesia, Russia, the Philippines and Vietnam. The company has tapped global NBA superstar Kobe Bryant to help promote the device in China and Southeast Asia, while designing a worldwide marketing campaign to promote the phone in other markets. Lenovo aims to use its experience in Asia as a springboard for its global smartphone ambitions.

The new Intel® Atom™ processor platform ("Clover Trail+") brings Intel’s classic product strengths, including high performance that lets users enjoy smooth Web browsing,  vibrant, glitch-free, full HD movies, and an Android* applications experience that launches fast and runs great. The product’s 2GHz dual core Intel Atom processing also features Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology, supporting four simultaneous application threads and further enhancing the overall efficiency of the Intel Atom cores and platform.

“The K900 embodies the value propositions of high-performance Intel® architecture and great battery life with Lenovo’s product and design innovation,” said Hermann Eul, Intel vice president and general manager of the Mobile and Communications Group. “We look forward to our continued partnership with Lenovo across a range of mobile market segments, and to working closely with them to bring the K900 smartphone experience with Intel Inside® to more consumers around the world.”
