According to him, details of the agreement, namely deadlines for transition periods of some branches, can not be made public yet, since the texts of the agreement has not finally been agreed on. The maximum transition period is going to amount to 10 years, he mentioned. “The agreement is applicable to the whole territory of Moldova. In negotiating, tthis region was represented by observers. Besides, we discussed DCFTA with them bilaterally”, Octavian Calmic said. He expressed hope that Transdniestria would follow provisions of the agreement. Main DCFTA negotiator of the European Commission Luc Devigne says it is up to Transdniestria to decide whether to accept new rules or not. As the text of the agreement is finally agreed, it will undergo internal formalities of the EU and will be presented to its member states.
The agreement may be initialled at the Eastern partnership summit in Vilnius in November, 2013. In 2014, it may be signed to come into effect. According to Luc Devigne, the signing of DCFTA will help improve business environment in Moldova and make our country more attractive for investors. Let's remind that the talks on DCFTA between RM and EU were opened on February, 2012. In negotiating, Moldova left all other Eastern partnership states behind and completed the talks as soon as in 16 months.
