OREANDA-NEWS. June 28, 2013. The Citadele Bank would like to remind its clients that as of June 26 of this year, people who own a Citadele MasterCard, Maestro, VISA or VISA Electron card, when paying for goods or services purchased from Internet shops, which are registered in the 3D Secure system, will have to enter the Citadele Internet bank user name and authorisation code.

Cardholders without Internet banking services have previously been able to make purchases without the user name and authorisation code, instead only entering their name, card number, expiration date and CVV2 security code.

People who have not used the Internet banking system can make purchases without indicating their user name and authorisation code, and that can also be done by those holding corporate cards or additional cards for individuals. Those payment card users who have not used the Internet banking system but do plan to shop on the Internet are asked to connect the system. For more information, please contact any Citadele Bank office.

Thousands upon thousands of Internet shops in the world use the 3D Secure system already, and that number is increasing day by day. The Internet shops which have joined the 3D Secure system and support safe payments with payment cards have the “Verified by Visa” and/or “SecureCode” logo on their homepages.

You will still be able to buy goods and services from those Internet shops which have not registered with the 3D system, and in that case you will not be asked to enter additional identification data. That, however, will also indicate that shopping there will not be as secure as is the case with those shops that have registered with the system.
