OREANDA-NEWS. July 04, 2013. Chairman of the Cherkizovo Group Board of Directors Igor Babaev and Governor of Penza Region Vasily Bochkarev visited the Kamensky District site where construction on one of the largest grain storage facilities in the region is currently ongoing.

Cherkizovo Group acquired the Kamenka grain warehouse in 2012, and the facility is already more than 80% complete with an expected launch date in the fall 2013. Its overall storage capacity will be 100,000 tons of grain, the result of 500 million rubles of investment made in a project that will create some 50 jobs.

“Having a regional agroindustrial complex that is truly competitive on the Russian market is very important for us. This one of the main challenges facing Penza Region. Implementing the investment projects of Cherkizovo Group means creating high-tech jobs, increasing output of agricultural products, and of course enhancing the innovative and investment potential of the region’s agricultural sector. I am confident that in the future the new projects will promote dynamic growth of the agroindustrial complex, stabilize the economy and reinforce the tax base in the region,” Vasily Bochkarev said.

“Penza Region is a particularly special region for our company,” stated Igor Babaev, Chairman of the Cherkizovo Group Board of Directors. “We have already implemented and continue to implement a number of projects in the agriculture industry. In particular, this year we plan to fully complete our project designed to boost the Penza poultry production cluster capacity from 61,000 tons of sellable weight per year to 140,000 tons. The regional administration supervised by Vasily Bochkarev created a phenomenal investment climate, one reason why Cherkizovo Group plans to continue investing in the region’s agroindustrial complex.”

For more than 15 years Cherkizovo Group has been developing the Penza Region agriculture industry, having invested over that time a total of 15 billion rubles and created approximately 5,000 jobs. In addition to the grain storage facility currently under construction, the company is implementing projects in the poultry, pork, meat processing, and grain farming divisions.
