OREANDA-NEWS. Uralkali (LSE: URKA, “the Company”), one of the world’s largest potash producers, informs that on 24 September 2013 the Company was notified by Chengdong Investment Corporation that their stake in Uralkali amounts to 12.5%.

The increase in the stake was due to conversion into ordinary shares of the Company of bonds held by Chengdong Investment Corporation and issued by Wadge Holdings Limited, beneficially owned by Uralkali’s major shareholders.

Uralkali is not a party to any agreement regarding this transaction.

Uralkali is one of the world’s largest potash producers with a share of about 20% of global potash production. The Company’s assets consist of 5 mines and 7 ore-treatment mills situated in the towns of Berezniki and Solikamsk (Perm Region, Russia). Uralkali employs ca. 11,800 people (in the main production unit). Uralkali’s shares and GDRs are traded on the Moscow Exchange and LSE, respectively.
