Engineering Education Center Established by TISCO and USTB
OREANDA-NEWS. October 03, 2013. The opening ceremony of the Engineering Practice Education Center jointly established by Taiyuan Iron and Steel (Group) Co. Ltd (TISCO) and University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) was held in Taiyuan, which became the new beginning for the joint personnel training of both sides.
President of USTB Zhang Xinxin, Vice President of USTB Zhang Yue, Chairman of TISCO Li Xiaobo, President of TISCO Gao Xiangming,President of Shanxi Taigang Stainless Steel Co. Ltd. Zhang Zhifang,Vice Director of Planning Committee of TISCO Board of Directors, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering Wang Yide, and the relevant leaders of both sides took part in the opening ceremony. Zhang Xinxin and Li Xiaobo unveiled the plaque for the Engineering Practice Education Center.
Li Xiaobo said that USTB is a famous university with rich cultural heritage and remarkable development achievements, have educated, since its establishment in 60 years ago, more than 14000 professional talents, among them many are the backbone and important persons in metallurgical and material field. USTB has continuously educated and provided many professional personnel for TISCO over the years, at the same time provided support and help in the R&D and personnel training for TISCO. In the future, TISCO needs more professional talents more than ever to keep its leadership in the stainless steel industry, strengthen its comprehensive competitiveness and become the first-class, world-renowned large enterprise group.
Li Xiaobo said that TISCO has confidence, resolution and competence to do a good job in the Engineering Practice Education Center with USTB and trains more professional talents to support the future development. He hoped that the Administration Committee of the Engineering Practice Education Center should carefully plan and organize the construction work, ensure the center would be successfully accepted after the two years of construction and make the center a platform for the long-term cooperation between TISCO and USTB. At the same time, he also hoped that both sides should take this as an opportunity to further strengthen the cooperation and make the center a model for the university-enterprise cooperation.
Zhang Xinxin said that the nationally designated engineering practice center jointly established by USTB and TISCO is not only a major event in the Excellence Initiative of USTB, but also a new milestone for the cooperation in personnel training between USTB and TISCO. Zhang Xinxin said that as one of the first universities entering into the Excellence Initiative, USTB would adhere to its tradition of school “the rigorous style of study and advocating practice” and closely cooperate with TISCO to build a new example for the training of metallurgical engineering technology talents by relying on the Engineering Practice Education Center and by the realistic and innovative spirit of commitment to quality excellence.
Executive President of School of Advanced Engineer of USTB Liu Li introduced the progress of the Excellence Initiative, the plan and preparation of the Engineering Practice Education Center. Gao Xiangming read the name list of the Administration Committee of the Engineering Practice Education Center. Zhang Yue issued the certificates to the supervisors of the enterprise practice.
The Engineering Practice Education Center is a key measure that the Ministry of Education implements the National Outline for Medium- and Long-Term Educational Reform and Development 2010-20 to carry out the task of enterprise learning in the university “Excellence Initiative”, set up the new mechanism for the joint personnel training by university and enterprise, develop the student’s engineering practice, designing and innovating abilities, and is a comprehensive platform for the training of engineering and technological talents through the cooperation between the university and enterprise.
