OREANDA-NEWS.  October 08, 2013. A branch of JSC “MOESK” Central Electric Grids have started fulfilling the first reconstruction stage of 110/10/6 kV substation “Cherkizovo” – one of the oldest substations, located in the very center of Moscow.

With due account for the stage of designing, the beginning of the substation renovation was made in year 2008. The project with the total cost estimate of RUR 1.52 will be completed in year 2016.

Zero cycle of a new building construction of 110 kV factory-assembled switchgear SF6-gas insulated (FASG) has been completed. The works to construct FASG are planned to be performed till the year end. The next stage will be the modern SF6-gas insulated equipment installation. Beside it, control boards and a relay cabinet will be placed in the FASG building. The latest-generation micro processing terminals will be installed on the relay cabinet; they allow increasing the reliability of function of neighboring grid 110 kV.

“Renovation of “Cherkizovo” substation, first and foremost, is focused on the increase of reliability, safety and quality of the power supply of consumers, – emphasized Director of the Central Electric Grids Vsevolod Ivanov. – After putting into operation of the new building of FASG, the obsolete equipment of 110 kV outdoor switchgear will be dismantled. And instead of it a building will be constructed, where four new power transformers and new metal-clad switchgear 10 kV will be installed. A transfer of the transformers into closed chambers will reduce significantly noise emitted by the power equipment. It’s especially important with due account for a close location of residential houses to the substation”.

Substation “Cherkizovo” was put into operation in year 1928. It provides with electric power district Lefortovo, “Instrument-making plant Manometr” LLC, “Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman”, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, many other socially and economically significant facilities. Last time 110 kV outdoor switchgear of the feeding center was reconstructed in year 1956. Since that time 110 kV electrical equipment has not been renewed and as of today needs to be renovated.
