OREANDA-NEWS. National Aluminium Company (NALCO) joined the Nation in observing Vigilance Awareness Week in its sites and offices. This year, the week was celebrated from October 28, with the theme 'Promoting Good Governance - Positive Role of Vigilance' and was concluded on November 2.

At the Corporate Office, the week-long programme was inaugurated by Shri Ansuman Das, CMD, along with Shri S.S. Mahapatra, Director (Production) and Shri S.C. Padhy, Director (HR). On this occasion, the pledge was administered among the employees in three different languages. The excerpts from the messages given by constitutional authorities were also read out to the employees on the occasion. A seminar based on this year's theme was also organized on the occasion. Shri G.C. Nanda, former Director General of Police, Govt of Odisha, and noted Odia writer & academician Prof. Jatindra Narayan Das, graced the occasion as the chief guest and chief speaker respectively. Both of them spoke on the objectives and the role of vigilance in good governance. Shri Subrat Kar, DGM (Vigilance), delivered the welcome address while Shri D.R. Pal proposed the vote of thanks.

Similarly, two more seminars on 'Effective Corporate Governance Through Vigilance' and 'Promoting Good Governance Positive Contribution of Vigilance' were conducted at Damanjodi and Angul Complexes of NALCO, in which Shri PK Padhi, IAS (Retd.), former Chief Information Officer, Govt. of Odisha and Shri Hrudaya Ballav Das, former CBI judge shared their thought as Chief Guests respectively.

A number of participants, including employees of NALCO and students from different schools and colleges participated in various competitions held during the week at different locations of NALCO under the guidance of Shri P.K. Mohanty, IAS, CVO, NALCO. Twenty-nine schools from Bhubaneswar had participated in the elocution competition in English, Hindi and Odia held at NALCO's Corporate Office. Shri Sarthak Panda from Sai International School, Ms. Pooja Das from St. Josheph's Convent School, Ms. Paushali Pradhan from DAV, Unit - VIII, Shri Sampanna Pahi from DAV, Kalinga Nagar, Ms. Anushree Bajoria from DAV Public School, CS Pur and Ms. Preeti Padma Dash from RD Women's College bagged first prizes in different categories.
