OREANDA-NEWS. The head of the Russian branch of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Mr. Miura Bunta paid NPO Saturn a visit. The aim of his visit was to review the ongoing collaboration program, get familiar with the ways of the company's further development and search for new project opportunities.

The first deliveries of the Mitsubishi equipment to NPO Saturn started back in 2006. Thus the visit of Japanese partners came as a re-discovery of the Rybinsk-based company during which the guests visited the production facilities of NPO Saturn and of its affiliated tooling manufacturing plants - ZAO NIR and ZAO SatIZ, that conjointly implement engineering projects through providing services in relation with comprehensive production engineering.

The parties were able to discuss the new opportunities for prospective collaboration, i.e. while solving the equipment-related tasks, expanding the machine tool technological potential and utilizing various types of production tooling, and bringing the potential of NPO Saturn, ZAO SatiIZ and ZAO NIR to fruition, how to ensure progress of the two companies drawing on the experience acquired in the process of industrializing parts of different design and manufacturing complexity level.

NPO Saturn had a chance to demonstrate to its Japanese partners its own industrial capabilities as well as those of its subsidiaries in the field of engineering solutions which are currently in high market demand and serve as a logical complement to the MHI products in the machine-building sector for joint projects in Russia.

“I have the best impressions from this visit. Hope our collaboration will continue in the future,” - summarized Mr. Bunta drawing particular attention to NPO Saturn's production process end-to-end capabilities, the newly created supply chain management system and the engineering backbone of the company's operations.

“We both see opportunities for joint operation in the future and that's what matters the most. Now the two companies need to understand, analyze and propose a business model which would bring commercial success to both of them. The first step in that direction was made today,” - commented Dmitriy Ivanov, NPO Saturn innovative development director. He went on explaining that “Saturn, while implementing the innovative cluster's policy, has now reached a stage at which all the conditions are made available for new partnerships. Saturn welcomes joining forces with new partners in various fields of competence. Since those capabilities and competences which have already been accumulated in the frame of the innovative territorial cluster “Gas turbine machinery and power engineering” as well as the competences which will see development in the nearest future now can pave a solid foundation for new collaboration projects.”
