OREANDA-NEWS. Metalloinvest (“the Company”) presented its programme for measurement and management of workers' health disorders at the 12th All-Russia “OCCUPATION and HEALTH” Congress in Moscow. The results of the programme were recognised by the judges, and the Company was awarded the Diploma for Achievements in Healthcare for the Working Population of Russia. Over 500 delegates attended the Congress, and 30 leading Russian companies presented their activities.

It was the first time that Metalloinvest took part in such a significant event on this subject. The experts' high regard of the Company's achievements in maintaining its employees' health was therefore all the more valuable. Metalloinvest was one of the two Russian companies awarded the Diploma.

Since June 2012, Metalloinvest, together with the Federal Research Institute of Occupational Health affiliated to the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (RAMS), has worked on improving efficiency of its enterprises through implementing a series of measures aimed at reducing illness among the employees and improving the social and working environment. The Congress's experts noted that the Company's subsidiaries retain stable low rates of professional sickness, disability and lost time incidents compared to the overall rates of the metals and mining industry and the Russian Federation as a whole.

Andrey Salnikov, Metalloinvest Chief Medical Officer and head of health programmes, said: “The problems discussed during the Congress are incredibly relevant and deserve the closest possible attention. In the current conditions, health and safety of the workers are becoming strategic issues. It is very important that it is not only the scientists and specialists that participated in the discussion, but also the representatives of the state authorities, relevant ministries and agencies, trade unions, and employers.”

Metalloinvest continues to work towards improving its social and working environment and reducing professional risks for its employees.
