OREANDA-NEWS. February 14, 2014. In line with the contract the Economy Ministry and Austrian-Romanian consortium Habau PPS Pipeline Systems-Inspet-IPM-Partners signed, the deadline is fixed for late June – early July 2014.

“Political leaders of Moldova and Romania requested the consortium to speed the work and to finish the construction in April and the management of the company promised that. However, although the work was given urgency to, some reasons, namely complicacy of the works at the gas-measuring and compressor stations, do not allow the company to keep its word. That was why the management of Habau asked Moldova’s authorities to return to the deadlines set forth in the contract”, Valeriu Lazar said.

The works started on August 27, 2013, InfoMarket reported earlier. Initially, authorities of Moldova and Romania announced the gas pipeline would be completed in Q1 2014. A total length of the gas pipeline is going to make 43.2 kilometres. The Moldovan segment will be 10.5 kilometre long.

The construction is estimated at EUR 26.5 million of which EUR 7 million is contributed by the EU.
