OREANDA-NEWS. The Ad Hoc Council Meeting was held over two days on March 10 and 11, 2014 in Brussels, bringing together leaders of European and multinational companies for a hearing with officials of the European Union (EU) on the topic of government policy. Mitsui & Co., Ltd.'s EMEA Business Unit (BU) Chief Operating Officer (COO) Hironobu Ishikawa participated in the meeting.

The historically renowned Ad Hoc Council was established in 1975 as a forum for discussion between European business and industry leaders and representatives of European governments. During the meeting, 6 representatives of the European Commission spoke about various policy issues and the future outlook for policy relating to areas such as trade, the environment, energy, and competition. Also, Mitsui's representative for the European region Hironobu Ishikawa hosted a dinner party with former European Commission Directorate-General for Energy Phillip Lowe as the guest of honor. The dinner party featured lively discussions on the importance of energy integration within the EU.

Through these activities, Mitsui is aiming to further build its presence in the EU, develop stronger relationships with local partners, and contribute to economic growth in the EU region.
