OREANDA-NEWS. Transstroymekhanisatsiya (TSM), a Mostotrest subsidiary, has basically completed Stage One of the Ufa airport complex reconstruction project.

TSM has completed the overhauling of Runway 2, including the replacement of defective pavement slabs, reconstruction of the existing apron to accommodate target aircraft types, and construction of a new apron. The project has reinforced taxiways, expanded safety shoulders and brought them into compliance with ICAO standards. A new connecting taxiway “J” has been built between Runway 1 and Runway 2.

TSM is also modernizing the taxiway lighting installations, rebuilding the drainage system with surface runoff treatment facilities, and upgrading the airport's power supply and communications system. Under the construction contract, Stage One of the upgrade project commissioned by Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FGUP) Administration of Civil Airports (Airfields) is scheduled for completion in early 2015.

The project is being implemented as part of the federal target program Development of Russia's Transport System (2010-2015). After the final completion of the upgrade project (Stage I and II), the airport will be able to serve wide-body aircraft, thereby increasing the airport's throughput capacity. The upgrade project is timed to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, which is to be held in Ufa in mid-2015.

The Ufa Administrative Airport Complex is located in the Kirov District of the city of Ufa and Ufa Region of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The airport has international status.
