Volvo resumes the production of cabs in Kaluga
OREANDA-NEWS. Volvo Trucks Company in the first week of October will resume the production of trucks at its plant in Kaluga. The Manager of Public Relations of Volvo Trucks in Russia, Oleg Vasilchenko, informed the agency "AUTOSTAT" by adding that due to the nature of the technological cycle, shop welding and painting cabs, Volvo Group in Kaluga resumed the work two weeks earlier, that is already on this week.
Recall due to low demand for commercial vehicles in Russia, Kaluga plant Volvo Group Trucks in February of this year, suspended the conveyor indefinitely. At the downtime the trucks Volvo and Renault are supplied temporarily to Russia from European companies of Volvo Group in Sweden, Belgium and France. In addition, the company has reduced by 30% its staff, which had previously consisted of about 1 thousand employees.
Opening of Volvo Trucks plant in Kaluga was held in January of 2009, its capacity – is 15 thousand trucks per year (10,000 Volvo trucks and 5,000 - Renault). In March of 2014 the Kaluga plant began the production of trucks of the new model range of Volvo heavy series of more than 16 tons, namely models Volvo FM (suburban and regional transport, and municipal vehicles), Volvo FMX (construction trucks for the most difficult operating conditions) and the Volvo FH ( medium- and long-haul transport). And in October, the company launched a new range of assembly of Renault Trucks - Series T-haul tractors, heavy construction truck series K, trucks for construction transport cycles Series C. Thus, it was the transition from the production of the classic line of 2008-2010 to the next generation of vehicles.
