OREANDA-NEWS. AvtoVAZ presented the dual-fuel car Lada Vesta CNG, which runs on gasoline and compressed natural gas. This car demonstrates the potential of the engineering team Lada to support state policy on the development of the country's methane refueling infrastructure, informed the press service of AvtoVAZ.

The possibility of using of LPG equipment was laid at the design stage of Lada Vesta. In particular, the car has received quite a wide gas tank hatch. Thus it is possible to arrange a filler cap for petrol and filling equipment for filling of compressed natural gas.

During the development of Lada Vesta CNG it was paid special attention to safety. Composite gas cylinders are equipped with built-in fuses and high-speed valves, excluding the possibility of balloon rupture and uncontrolled release of gas in case of pipelines damage in case of an accident. Two cylinders with a pressure of up to 250 atmospheres are located in the rear of the vehicle, under the boot floor.

Fully fueled car can travel 1,000 kilometers without refueling. In the case when the gas ends it is automatically transfer of engine to the petrol. It is also possible the forced transfer with the switch gas / petrol. It is estimated that when the vehicle is operated on methane the fuel cost reduced more than three times.

After the demonstration of Lada Vesta CNG at the exhibition it will go on developmental testing. The project to build the gas line versions of Lada is realized within the framework of a memorandum of "Gazprom gas fuel" and AvtoVAZ cooperation. Cooperation of the parties is aimed at broadening of the range of domestic passenger cars running on natural gas.
