OREANDA-NEWS. Henk van Dalen, member of the Supervisory Board of Rabobank, is stepping down temporarily from the post pending the outcome of an investigation by the Dutch Public Prosecutor’s Office into the international telecom group VimpelCom.

Henk van Dalen was Chief Financial Officer of VimpelCom from July 2010 to September 2013. He joined the Rabobank Supervisory Board in September 2013.

Henk van Dalen: “In consultation with the Supervisory Board and the Executive Board I have decided in the interest of Rabobank to step down temporarily from the Supervisory Board. The reputation of a Supervisory Board member should be beyond reproach. I believe that I cannot perform my supervisory tasks properly while the investigation into VimpelCom is ongoing.”

Wout Dekker, Chairman of the Supervisory Board: “We completely understand Henk van Dalen’s decision to step down temporarily. The investigation into VimpelCom started some time ago and concerns the period before Henk Van Dalen joined the Rabobank Supervisory Board. At this time we cannot say when the investigation will be complete. Based on the facts in our possession, the Supervisory Board and the Executive Board have no reason to question the expertise and integrity of Henk van Dalen. We respect Henk van Dalen’s decision to step down from his position in the interest of the Rabobank pending the outcome of the investigation.”
