OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has expanded its network coverage and improved quality of connections in Moscow and Moscow Region. The number of the company’s base stations increased 14% just only three months after the launch of commercial operations in the Moscow metropolitan area.

Between November 2015 and January 2016 Tele2 carried out large-scale works on the network rollout. As a result, the operator has improved the quality of connections both in central streets of the capital and Moscow’s residential quarters.

The technical development was focused on covering the city’s major highways. Thus, it took the company only three months to increase the network’s capacity along the main Moscow thoroughfares: Lengradskoye, Volokolamskoye and Rublevskoye Shosse, Novyy Arbat Ulitsa, Kutuzovskiy, Michurinskiy, Leninskiy and Sevastopolskiy Prospekt, Profsoyuznaya Ulitsa, Varshavskoye and Kashirskoye Shosse, Prospekt Andropova, Lyublinskaya Ulitsa, Shchelkovskoye and Dmitrovskoye Shosse and the Moscow Ring Road.

The company has also rolled out 3G/4G networks at the city’s main transport facilities. The company has provided high-quality communications at all railways stations and airports. Passengers of the Moscow underground will be able to use Tele2 services at 11 stations: Delovoy Tsentr, Zyablikovo, Kotelniki, Lermontovskiy Prospekt, Troparevo, Shipilovskaya, Belorusskaya, Spartak, Pyatnitskoye Shosse and Zhulebino.

The operator is paying special attention to the quality of signal indoors: in residential buildings, hotels, shopping malls and business centres. Over three months Tele2 has provided stable connections in the following business centres: Alkon, Kvartal City, Vodnyy, KomCity and Moscow City. The company’s services are now available in shopping malls Evropeyskiy, Afimoll, Aviapark, Atrium, Kuntsevo Plaza, Gorod, Megapolis, Gudzon, XL, Tri Kita, Retail Park, Filion, Way Park as well as retail chains Zolotoy Vavilon, RIO, Vegas, Kapitoliy and Metro Cash&Carry. Besides, the Tele2 network is now covering the Skolkovo innovation centre and the Ostankino television centre.

Starting from the launch in October 2015, the operator has provided high-quality services to the residents of over 250 residential areas, including 59 major villages of the region. Moscow Region accounts for 55% of all new base stations Tele2 had set up in the metropolitan area. Now the company’s high quality services are available on the territory populated by over 90% of residents of Moscow and Moscow Region.

Aleksey Dmitriyev, Chief Technical Officer at Tele2 Moscow:

“After the launch of Moscow operations, the technical service continues rolling out our network at a high pace: we commission around 100 base stations per week. The result was valued highly not only by our subscribers but also experts of the telecoms industry. In December analytical agency TelecomDaily gave the Tele2 a very high rating – the operator’s 3G network was recognized as outperforming rivals in quality. This year we will focus on rolling out the network in the Moscow underground and providing stable indoor connections. The company is paying special attention to network coverage in Moscow Region: both in the villages of the Moscow surrounding area and along key thoroughfares. Tele2 is also planning to expand the LTE network coverage so that high-speed Internet would be available to as many residents as possible.”
