OREANDA-NEWS The EU's indecision on imposing an embargo on oil and gas has ensured high profits for Russian company Gazprom, economist Lukasz Kovanda said, according to Gazeta.ru.

According to him, the EU has only helped Russia to get high profits lately. The Union's countries only threatened to impose restrictions, but did not do so. This situation resulted in the rise of prices of energy resources, which Russia used to sell expensively and in large quantities. This situation will continue until the end of 2022.

He added that disagreements in the EU only helped energy companies from Russia. In addition, it allowed to strengthen the position of the ruble.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a conversation with the Bosnian-Serbian broadcaster "Radio and Television of Republika Srpska" said that the inhabitants of Europe are threatened with poverty because of sanctions against Russia. He pointed out that the standard of living in Europe is deteriorating, inflation is increasing, and growth is slowing down.
