OREANDA-NEWS  In Russia, in 2023, serial production of the modified AK-12 assault rifle will begin. This was announced by the head of Rostec State Corporation Sergey Chemezov in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, the improvements of the AK-12 take into account the feedback on the results of the use of the machine during the special operation.

"The AK-12 assault rifle has been substantially modified based on the results of its use in the SVO. It has become much more convenient and ergonomic. This year, an updated version will go into the series," said the head of Rostec.

The development of a new modification of the AK-12 became known in the summer of 2022. The upgraded version of the AK-12 will receive a two-way safety translator flag and will lose the firing mode in fixed bursts.

The improved version will be equipped with a non-removable flame suppressor-compensator, a new forearm and a butt with a lifting cheek. The designers changed the dioptric sight of the machine gun and installed a new forearm, and the butt received a lifting cheek, which increases the ease of use when shooting with an additional sight.
