Solution to Manage and Analyse Electricity Exchange UMM in Real Time
After an intense 3-day hackathon, the teams presented their work to the jury. Among the many excellent ideas, team Proximity was chosen as the winner. The winning team's idea focused on electricity trading. Team Proximity members were Arto Ahde, Akatsuki Liu and Alexander Rodichev.
During the weekend participants ideated and developed solutions for predictive maintenance and electricity trading with technologies such as machine learning, data visualisation, augmented and virtual reality. Fortum provided the participants with real time and history data on energy production from several production units.
"It has been great to see these talented teams innovate and what they have achieved during a few days. The teams understood our needs well and have presented good and usable ideas. It has not been easy to choose the winner and that is why we rewarded four teams, more than planned. In the winning team's idea the jury valued easiness of use and how they integrated to analytics tacit information, and we see a lot of development potential in this idea," says Heli Antila, Chief Technology Officer.
"As stated in our new strategy open innovation cooperation with start-ups and software developers is important to us. We want to find new and agile ways to cooperate in innovation. The hackathon provided us with a lot of new ideas," she continues. "It's very likely that some of the solutions created will be developed further."
