OREANDA-NEWS.  GE (NYSE: GE) today announced it has appointed Souer Co. Ltd. (Souer Thailand) as an authorized distributor of Jenbacher gas engines. The move builds on GE’s ongoing commitment to provide Thailand’s oil field gas compression, power generation and other industrial customers with reliable, more efficient power at or near the point of use.

With a brand new facility, including a 3,200-square-meter workshop with engine test room, paint room and overhaul and repair capabilities, Souer Thailand is well-positioned to work with Jenbacher end users active in any power application in Thailand, which includes hundreds of GE’s Types 3, 4 and 6 engines installed throughout the country. Souer Company Limited (Co., Ltd.) hosts the Far East Regional Training Center for Waukesha engines, and that will be extended to include Jenbacher engine training as well. As an authorized distributor, Souer can improve a Jenbacher end user’s operations with complete life cycle of engine coverage, including installation and startup, upgrades and overhauls with genuine parts and factory warranties.

Souer was founded in 1987, has been a Waukesha distributor for over 25 years in Thailand and is well-established in the industry. The company is headquartered in Phitsanulok, with a team of highly skilled engine technicians located throughout the country.  A sales office has recently been opened in Bangkok in order to serve local customers even further.

“With our new GE distributor agreement, we will be able to greatly enhance the customer experience for companies that need power in Thailand, ranging from oil and gas to industrial on-site power production,” said Danny Pauw, managing director, Souer Company Limited (Co., Ltd.). “Our growing team of skilled Jenbacher-certified engine technicians around the country and stock of genuine parts inventory help ensure immediate, local customer support—both on-site and in our shops.”

“As Thailand’s annual energy consumption has risen sharply during the last decade and will continue its upward trend in the years to come, domestic sources of power supply are limited. To face this increasing demand, Thailand needs to produce more energy from its renewable resource, particularly biomass wastes, which are projected to cover up to 15 percent of the energy demand in the country,” said Wouter-Jan van der Wurff, general manager, Channel for GE’s Distributed Power business. “GE’s Jenbacher gas engines will allow customers in Thailand to improve waste management while enhancing the use of an economical energy supply. With a localized workforce, our customers also will greatly benefit from Souer Thailand’s vast experience with both our technology and in the industry.”

Increasingly, companies with power needs in Thailand are relying on on-site power systems to accelerate operational efficiency. The gas engine product lines from GE, which include Jenbacher gas engines, bring the dual advantage of reliable on-site power as well as off-grid solutions. Jenbacher cogeneration technology can use biogas for power generation—technology that provides both economic and ecological benefits. Globally, more than 4,000 Jenbacher biogas systems with a total electrical output of about 3 gigawatts have been delivered worldwide.
