OREANDA-NEWS  No decisions on the repair of the Nord Stream have been made yet, and only such restoration work can affect the situation with the gas pipeline now, said Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia.

Thus, the Kremlin representative commented on the question of how the new sanctions — Canada's renewed restrictions on turbines - could affect the gas pipeline.

"Only repairs can affect the Nord Stream right now. Or the launch of the only surviving branch of the second "Stream". The matter has not yet come to repair, no decisions have been made on this score. And so far we do not know anything about the results of the investigation," Dmitry Peskov explained, adding that there are also no decisions on the launch of the surviving branch of the Nord Stream—2.

Canada's intention to return to the application of sanctions against turbines for the Nord Stream gas pipeline became known on December 14. The country justified its actions by changing the circumstances that previously caused the refusal of restrictions.

In the summer, Gazprom reduced pumping through the Nord Stream, citing the inability to get the necessary equipment from Canada. When the country made concessions, the Russian company did not accept the turbines, also citing the risks of sanctions. In the autumn, explosions occurred on the "Northern Streams", which disabled both branches of the first and one of the branches of the second, which had not been put into operation by that time.
