OREANDA-NEWS  Gazprom will suspend pumping on both lines of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline. Transportation will not be carried out for a week, the company's press service reports.

The temporary stoppage of supplies is connected with the planned annual maintenance of the gas pipeline. It will be held from 5 to 12 June.

Turkish Stream is an export gas pipeline through the Black Sea. Its design capacity is 31.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year. With its help, deliveries are made to Turkey and to the countries of Southern and South-Eastern Europe. Stopping pumping through Turkey will reduce supplies to EU countries at least twice.

In October 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed pumping the lost volume of gas transit through the Black Sea region via the Nord Streams. To do this, he called for building a hub in Turkey for supplies to Europe through the Turkish Stream.

Earlier, Kommersant pointed out that Russia may face difficulties in repairing gas pipelines due to Western sanctions that prohibit the export, re-export, direct or indirect sale or supply of gas turbines from the United States. The restrictions affect a large number of critical components that have been used on Russian export gas pipelines since Soviet times.
