OREANDA-NEWS   Germany has ceased to depend on energy imports from Russia. This was stated by German Finance Minister Christian Lindner in an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC on Thursday.

"Of course, Germany still depends on energy supplies, but not from Russia, but from world markets," he said.

The minister added that the country has found "alternative energy sources": thermal power plants have been reopened, plans to close the three remaining nuclear power plants have been postponed.

Germany is also actively developing infrastructure for gas supplies, primarily from Norway and the United States. According to Lindner, the new terminal for receiving liquefied natural gas was built in just eight months. Germany stopped importing Russian oil at the beginning of the year. Gas supplies via the Nord Stream stopped after sabotage on the pipeline.
