OREANDA-NEWS The German government informed the companies about plans to take measures to "exclude purchases of Russian liquefied natural gas if possible." This is stated in a letter from Deputy Energy Minister Patrick Greichen in response to questions from conservative MPs, excerpts from which Bloomberg cites.

The letter notes that the authorities do not support the import of Russian LNG. Berlin may in the future oblige companies to inform about the origin of natural gas purchases if their volume exceeds five terawatt-hours. A representative of the German Ministry of Economy declined to comment.

LNG is the only type of fuel whose supplies from Russia to Europe have increased by the end of 2022. The reduction in the supply of Russian pipeline gas to the EU has led to the fact that the share of LNG in Russian gas exports, previously insignificant, according to analysts, has increased to 25%.
