OREANDA-NEWS Three Russian fuel traders who participated in trading on the St. Petersburg International Commodity Exchange (SPbMTSB) have been banned from accessing the site due to the use of trading robots. This was announced by a representative of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), RIA Novosti reports.

The ministry called the change in criteria for identifying unfair practices that impede the free access of bidders to petroleum products a success. As a result, excessive demand was brought down, which led to a drop in prices.

Mosregiongaz LLC, Solid-Commodity Markets JSC, Promsnab LLC were sanctioned. At the end of January, the FAS warned that it was going to combat such practices.

The reason for the department's claims was a complaint from one of the largest Russian independent gas station networks, Neftmagistral. A representative of the chain pointed out that since January 12, it has not been able to buy a single lot of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline on some bases in Central Russia, because other companies are taking these batches at the expense of robots. Moreover, the buyers themselves do not intend to use the product, instead they later resell gasoline at a premium.

During January, gasoline on the stock exchange rose by almost a quarter. In the first two days of February, almost half of this growth was recouped, most likely, the reason for this drop was the disappearance of robots. Nevertheless, at the beginning of this week, the cost of fuel returned to growth.
