OREANDA-NEWS  The turbines of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region stopped generating electricity, said the acting governor of the region, Vladimir Saldo.

"The electricity generated by the Kakhovskaya HPP served as a balancing in the general energy supply system, so it does not play a significant role in energy supply. Today, turbines do not provide electricity and there is no need for this," Saldo said on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

He also noted that the hydroelectric power plant was put out of action by the constant rocket and artillery strikes of the Ukrainian army. It will take at least a year to restore its operability if the troops of the Kiev regime do not undermine it.

The destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP could lead to the death of tens of thousands of people, as Russia previously reported at a meeting of the UN Security Council and distributed a letter calling for an end to provocations with the shelling of the HPP.
