OREANDA-NEWS  Luxembourg became the leader of the rating in terms of gasoline availability at the beginning of 2025, Russia was in 15th place, and Moldova closes the list, according to a RIA Novosti study.

According to experts, in the European market, the dynamics of gasoline prices in 2024 were multidirectional, and generally corresponded to the dynamics of oil prices – the growth in the first quarter was followed by a decline in the second and third quarters, while prices began to rise again in the fourth. However, the price movement was not the same in different countries, which affected the availability of motor fuel for end users.

At the same time, it is obvious that the availability of gasoline depends not only on the price of it, but also on the income of the population. To assess the availability of motor fuel in various countries, RIA Novosti experts, based on official statistics, have compiled a rating on the amount of gasoline that residents of European countries can purchase on their average monthly salaries.

Luxembourg took the first place in the ranking. Residents of this country can buy more than 2.7 thousand liters of gasoline on their average salaries. Fuel prices in this country are modest by European standards, while salaries are among the highest in Europe. The second place was taken by Great Britain with 2.2 thousand liters. Austria, Ireland and Norway are also in the top five of the ranking. Residents of these countries can purchase more than 1960 liters of gasoline on their average monthly salaries.

Russia ranked 15th in the ranking, between Spain and Kazakhstan. Residents of our country can purchase about 1,242 liters of 95 gasoline on their average monthly salaries.

Moldova ranks last in the ranking in terms of gasoline availability for the population. Residents of this country can purchase only 521 liters of fuel, which is five times less than the leading Luxembourg, and 2.3 times less than in Russia. In addition to Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia and Latvia occupy the bottom lines of the rating. Residents of these countries have the opportunity to buy less than 700 liters of gasoline on their salaries.

In absolute prices, without reference to salary, the lowest cost of gasoline of all the countries participating in the rating is noted in Kazakhstan. In terms of rubles, the price of a liter of 95 gasoline in this country is 50.4 rubles. Russia is in second place in terms of cheap fuel, with a price of 60.6 rubles per liter. According to Rosstat, compared with the beginning of 2024, the price of gasoline in our country has increased by 9.9%.

The third cheapest gasoline among European countries is occupied by Belarus, where gasoline costs about 72 Russian rubles per liter. Moldova and Bulgaria are also among the top five countries with the cheapest fuel.
