OREANDA-NEWS  The reduction in Russian gas production in June 2023 slowed by 4.5 percent. The companies produced 44.8 billion cubic meters of gas, Kommersant reports.

Such indicators are due to the weakening of the high base effect, which was observed in 2022. In total, over the past six months, gas production amounted to 330 billion cubic meters, it decreased by 9.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

At the same time, Gazprom's decline dynamics is still high, in the period from January to June 2023, gas production fell by 19 percent. In June, production amounted to 24.9 billion cubic meters (in 2022, the figures were 14.8 percent higher), this is due to the low level of gas exports to Europe.

Gazprom Neft's gas production decreased by 10 percent in June compared to last year, 2.43 billion cubic meters were produced. NOVATEK reduced production by 10 percent in the first month of summer for the first time since the beginning of the year, probably due to scheduled maintenance of the Yamal LNG project. In June, 5.9 billion cubic meters were produced.

Rosneft, on the contrary, increased production rates by 71.3 percent over the past six months and by 59 percent in June compared to 2022 (6.2 billion cubic meters). This is associated with the increase in the capacity of Rospan.

Sergey Kondratiev, an analyst from the Institute of Energy and Finance, believes that by the end of the second half of the year, Russia will be able to reduce gas production by 5.5–6 percent, to 630-635 billion cubic meters.

Earlier, residents of Ukraine were warned about a difficult heating season, the coming winter may become even more difficult than the previous one. They were advised to store fuel that would ensure the operation of electric generators.
