OREANDA-NEWS Russia has prepared and sent Turkey a roadmap for the creation of a gas hub, and Turkey is considering it. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak in an interview with RT Arabic.

"This project is currently under discussion, a roadmap has been prepared, which has been sent to Turkish partners. They are currently considering it. As soon as it is signed, it will already be implemented in accordance with the action plan," he said.

Novak noted that the project primarily involves the creation of an electronic gas trading platform in Turkey. "There are many suppliers there, including Russia - one of the largest, but there are also many consumers, these are Turkey and European countries. Obviously, there should be its own electronic exchange, electronic trading, which generates price quotes," he said.

In October 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin put forward the idea of creating a hub on Turkish territory, where the lost volume of gas transit through the Nord Stream can be redirected. The Turkish authorities stated that from the point of view of infrastructure in the country, almost everything is ready for the implementation of the hub project, but it is necessary to amend the legislation. The first legislative decisions were taken in early April and concerned the activities of the Turkish oil and gas company Botas and other suppliers.
