Foreign brands have become less frequent in Russia

OREANDA-NEWS The entry of foreign brands into the Russian market has plummeted. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to data from the Nikoliers consulting company.
According to analysts, 13 new foreign players have started working in Russia since January, and 8 more are planning to arrive by the end of the year. Their number decreased by a quarter in annual terms (minus 25 percent by the results of 2024).
By September, De'Longhi (Italy), BEKO (Turkey), Columbia Coffee (Turkey), Guess Jeans (USA), Kappa (Italy), and PDPaola (Spain) had established representative offices in the country.
Brands from Italy started working in Russia most often (30.8 percent), Turkey (23.1 percent) and China —15.4 percent). According to Nikoliers, companies from Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Finland and Mexico are also expected to launch by the end of the year.
In September, Rospatent previously refused to register a trademark in Russia to the French carmaker Renault. According to information from the WIPO's electronic database, the company applied for registration of the Reno trademark for the manufacture and sale of automobiles in October 2024, and received a preliminary refusal in April 2025.
