OREANDA-NEWS According to the results of the first seven months of 2026, sales of popular types of alcohol in Russia have significantly decreased. This is reported by Interfax with reference to data from Rosalokoltabakkontrol (RATK).
Beer sales in the domestic market during the reporting period decreased by 2.6 percent year-on-year, to 351.3 million dal. Sales of beer drinks, in turn, decreased by 3.8 percent to 54.4 million.
As for grape wines, their sales decreased by 2.8 percent, to 31.3 million dal. A negative trend was recorded in all types of this alcohol, with the exception of sparkling (champagne). Thus, sales of fruit wines during this time fell by 36.4 percent (to 1 million dal), and liqueur wines — by 6.3 percent (to 631.2 thousand). In the sparkling segment, on the contrary, an increase of 3.7 percent (to 11.8 million) was recorded.
Against the background of a noticeable drop in sales in the domestic market, the production of key types of alcohol also decreased. In January-July, the output of wine in Russia decreased by 11.3 percent, and vodka — by 4.6 percent. Cognac production, in turn, dropped by 8 percent year-on-year. Experts explained the drop in output, among other things, by the increase in producer costs, taking into account the sharp increase in excise taxes, which ultimately led to an increase in prices for manufactured products.
