Russia has imposed new restrictions on Armenia

OREANDA-NEWS Since June 12, Russia has been restricting the import of all quarantined products from Armenia and prohibiting their transit through its territory to the EAEU member states. This is stated in a message on the Rosselkhoznadzor website.
Such measures will be in effect until an algorithm is developed to ensure the security and traceability of shipped goods. The ministry explained that the decision was made in connection with the "systematic identification of quarantine facilities."
"The service has been gradually restricting the import of certain types of Armenian quarantined products since May of this year, and has also repeatedly sent information about supply disruptions to the Armenian side. However, detections of quarantine facilities continue," the Rosselkhoznadzor's press service stressed.
This time, we are talking about three cases of infection with the cabbage beetle of nuts, dried peaches and dried tomatoes from Armenia. The ministry believes that the incidents indicate insufficient control by the authorized body of the republic and cause distrust in the whole system of phytosanitary certification.
Earlier, the head of the Armenian Ministry of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, said that Yerevan had appealed to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) with a request to assess the restrictions imposed on its products by Russia.
