OREANDA-NEWS Almost 80% of the surveyed residents of Russia are ready to switch to electric cars, provided that their city has a developed charging infrastructure. This is reported in a joint study of the carsharing service Citydrive and the analytical agency A2:Research (the materials are available to TASS, the sample was 1,300 people).

"Almost 80% of respondents are ready to give up cars with gasoline or diesel engines if there is a developed charging infrastructure in their city," the study says. At the same time, 76% of respondents have a positive attitude to the development of any type of electric transport in their city. The largest percentage of those who see the active development of electric transport lives in Moscow - 60% of Muscovites believe that it is becoming more every year, the study notes.

Among the difficulties that arise when using electric vehicles (respondents could choose several answers), 36% of survey participants highlighted the lack of infrastructure for recharging cars. Another 29% believe that electric transport is too expensive a means of transportation. At the same time, 23% of respondents note that motorists are not yet used to this type of transport and are not fully aware of its advantages. Also, 35% of respondents consider the weak side of electric cars to be an insufficient power reserve, and another 18% - the lack of engine sound.

"The respondents also appreciated the possibility of a complete transition of their city to electric transport. The majority of respondents (42%) are optimistic and believe that it may take from 6 to 10 years," the study notes.
