OREANDA-NEWS. The auto concern Stellantis is ready to postpone or limit production in Russia if Western sanctions affect the company's work, writes The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) with reference to the head of the concern Carlos Tavares.

According to the Interfax agency with reference to the WSJ, Tavares' statements were made on Wednesday, February 23, they discussed the possible consequences of sanctions in connection with the recognition of the DPR and LPR.

“If the reality is that we will not be able to supply the plant, we will either be forced to transfer this production to other plants, or face restrictions,” Tavares is quoted as saying.

The main production asset of Stellantis in Russia is the PSMA Rus plant in Kaluga, which produces full-cycle cars. Passenger cars Peugeot 408, mini-vans, compact vans and commercial Peugeot, Opel and Citroen (including for the European market) roll off the assembly line at the plant, Mitsubishi assembles Outlander and Pajero Sport SUVs at the plant's facilities.

According to the Association of European Businesses (AEB), sales of Stellantis in Russia in 2021 increased by 64.7% to 18.5 thousand vehicles.

Earlier it was reported that the Stellantis concern plans to produce and sell in Russia a model worth about 1 million rubles.
