OREANDA-NEWS At the end of February, the world discussed the fire that occurred on the Felicity Ace ship in the Azores. There were about 4 thousand cars on board — mainly produced by Volkswagen, including luxury Porsche, Bentley and Lamborghini, as well as several unique cars that have not been produced for several years.

The ship burned for several days, and after unsuccessful attempts to transport it closer to the shore on March 1, it still sank and is now at a depth of more than 3 kilometers. Experts estimated the total damage caused by the fire at 400 million euros.

The executive director of Volkswagen Group announced that the sunken cars intended for customers will be replaced, including models of Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae and Urus, as well as Volkswagen, Bentley, Audi and Porsche. This is reported by the Sag and Driver media.

According to official documents, 85 Lamborghini supercars were on board the cargo ship, including 15 Aventador farewell special version, 20 Huracan and fifty Urus. Audi lost 846 cars as a result of the fire (including 122 electric cars of the e-tron family), Porsche – 580. In addition, 190 Bentleys gone to the bottom. A Lamborghini representative confirmed to Car and Driver that Felicity Ace had 15 Lamborghini limited edition Aventador Ultimae worth $500,000, production of which has officially been discontinued. However, the company decided to restore the entire complex supply chain in order to carry out their assembly with an additional edition and customers still received their cars.

Porsche also confirmed on March 18 that it would replace new cars that were on their way to buyers in the United States. Bentley Motors CEO Adrian Hallmark told Automotive News that the company has found a solution to replace more than half of the 189 Bentleys lost with the ship (by redirecting unsold cars from other locations), and that the rest will be taken care of over the next six months. «Damage to vehicles is covered by insurance. Brands and dealers have already started informing their customers and finding customized solutions», he stressed.

There were about 1800 Audi cars on Felicity Ace, they will also be replaced, Audi CEO Markus Dusmann confirmed, without going into details of how this will happen. Other cars that were also on board the ill-fated Felicity Ace were less fortunate. The lists of sunken cars, as it turned out, were also unique — for example, the 1977 Land Rover Santana, the 15-year-old BMW 750i, as well as the 65th copy of the Honda Prelude SiR, which has not been produced for several decades.
