OREANDA-NEWS  Russian drivers may be allowed not to carry a paper license with them. The Ministry of Finance proposes to equate the electronic version of the driver's license, presented through the "State Auto Services", with a physical document.

The corresponding draft government decree involves amendments to paragraph 2.1.1 of the traffic regulations, according to which, if there is an electronic license, the driver is still required to have the original with him. The documents provided for by the traffic regulations should be allowed to be presented not only in paper form, but also in electronic form — through the "State Auto Services", the explanatory note to the project says. This would simplify the procedure for confirming the right to drive a vehicle, as well as the digitalization of relations related to road safety. The adoption of the project will not require any additional investments, the Ministry of Finance noted.

The public discussion of the project should end on July 31.
