A fire on the crab-fishing trawler Tamango broke out on Sunday afternoon at the pier of the Kimek shipyard in Kirkenes. There were 22 crew members on board, they were evacuated, firefighters tried to cope with the fire.

"The police have given up on the idea of ​​putting out a fire on a Russian crab boat that was towed off the coast by a rescue vessel," the TV company said.

It is noted that about 1.00 (2.00 Moscow time) explosions were heard on the ship, it is known that there are 47 tons of diesel fuel on board. After the explosions, the rescuers had to move away from the vessel at a distance of 300-400 meters. The main task now is to prevent a significant fuel leak if the ship sinks, the rescue service explained. Residents of Kirkenes are advised to close all windows, as the burning ship smokes a lot.

The media reported yesterday that a Russian trawler caught fire in the port of Kirkenes in northern Norway, Finnmark provincial police said on Twitter.

"The team has been evacuated. Fire brigades are trying to cope with the fire," the post says.
