OREANDA-NEWS. Russian rolling stock operators have encountered difficulties when traveling through European countries due to anti-Russian sanctions, Kommersant reports.

So, about a thousand wagons en route to Kaliningrad were detained in Lithuania, tanks were also stuck in Finland, while in transit to Kaliningrad, cases of vandalism against the Russian park became more frequent, the newspaper writes. The Union of Railway Transport Operators (UJOT) complained that the Lithuanian authorities are delaying the transportation of goods, conducting lengthy checks on the range of goods transported in connection with the sanctions imposed against Russia.

Balttransservice noted that graffiti is applied to the wagons passing through Lithuania, however, when leaving the country, the fact of damage to the wagons is not fixed. Railgo also indicated that in Finland the cars of Russian companies are delayed.

The SOJT asked the government to consider ways to reduce risks when transporting through "unfriendly" countries, in particular, to offer insurance products to operators to level risks or to attract the Russian National Reinsurance Company for their reinsurance.

Earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) launched the process of nationalization of Russian railcars located in the country.
