OREANDA-NEWS  Specialists have begun testing the first carriage of an enlarged compartment at the Belorechenskaya–Maikop high-speed test site, Russian Railways reports.

"We are conducting acceptance and certification tests of the first enlarged compartment car (size T) at the Belorechenskaya–Maikop high-speed test site. The test cycle will include: checking the dynamic parameters of the wagon; strength and braking tests at various loads; determination of external noise and vibration parameters; electric and magnetic fields," the report says.

Russian Railways noted that specialists from VNIIZHT, together with TMH, will conduct climatic, sanitary, technical and operational tests to verify interaction with the railway infrastructure.

The length of the new compartment car is 73 centimeters longer than the standard one, the width is 28 centimeters, and the berths in the compartment are 15 centimeters longer than usual. The car is equipped with modern microclimate, energy saving, control and diagnostic systems. Transmashholding noted that by increasing the size of the carriage, passenger capacity will increase by 11%.

"We expect to complete all tests of the T—size wagon in April in order to receive certificates of compliance with the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union in May and begin mass production of such wagons," the Russian Railways added.
