OREANDA-NEWS  A possible ban on the import of cars with engines of more than 1.9 liters to Russia from Japan may lead to a shortage of spare parts, as well as to their rise in price. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to representatives of the car market.

A representative of the auto parts store "Spare Parts VDK" said that cars imported for disassembly are bought in whole, then sawed into components on a ship and imported to Russia as spare parts. He also pointed to the category of cars that are imported into Russia entirely, and then transported for the purpose of analysis to other regions, as well as to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

According to the representative of VDK Spare Parts, mainly in the segment of cars imported for this purpose are cars with an engine capacity of two and 2.5 liters, for which you do not need to pay a full duty. Currently, some representatives of the market have stocks of spare parts for several years ahead, but running positions that are sold every day will quickly become a shortage, a specialist described the prospect of restrictions.

The company selling contract auto parts Dizel also indicated that the sanctions will affect the price tag of spare parts. They noted that if the ban is introduced in August, the consequences in the form of cost increases should be expected in the fall.

A more positive view of what is happening was expressed in the company selling spare parts Darts auto. They suggested paying attention to Chinese spare parts, noting that "there is always a way out."

Earlier, the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri wrote that the country wants to ban the supply of cars with an engine of more than 1.9 liters to Russia as part of the next package of sanctions. The restrictions are scheduled to be introduced in August. It is also planned to completely ban the import of electric vehicles, as well as hybrid cars to Russia.
