OREANDA-NEWS  Iranian SAIPA plans to start production of its cars in Russia. About this to the correspondent Autonews.ru a high-ranking representative of the company said.

SAIPA has already turned to two sites, including Avtotor and the Belarusian plant Unison. The automaker hopes that a specific decision on the assembly of cars will be made before the end of 2023.

According to the interlocutor, localization of production will contribute to reducing the cost of cars, and will also allow you to take advantage of support and benefits from the state. The top manager did not say exactly where the production of Iranian cars could be organized, only specifying that their partner, Lucky Careancy, was dealing with this issue.

So far, the brand's lineup in Russia will consist of three cars: the budget Quik and Saina S, as well as the flagship Shahin sedan.

The SAIPA Saina S and Quik are based on the X200 platform, which is a deeply upgraded version of the 1986 Ford Festiva/Mazda 121 chassis. The cars are equipped with an atmospheric 1.5-liter M15 engine. Its power is 87 hp and 128 Nm of torque.
