OREANDA-NEWS  The first official Honda dealership has opened in St. Petersburg. Supplies are provided by the Motor Place company, TASS reports.

The new sub-distributor will provide warranty support for cars sold in its salons and brought to Russia in other ways. In addition to the dealership in St. Petersburg, the company will open two sales points in Moscow. At the same time, cars will be imported to Russia not from Japan, but from China, Autoreview notes.

Currently, eight Honda models are available for purchase: Civic and Accord sedans, CR-V crossovers of the 5th and 6th generations, RV, RV, Vezel and Odyssey minivan. The current range is four times larger than in 2020 — most of the mentioned cars have not been officially sold in Russia before.

Honda announced plans to stop supplying new cars to Russia in 2020. The company said it was going to restructure the business due to changes in global markets. They were going to stop shipments to the Russian "daughter" in 2022.

In March 2022, Honda announced the termination of deliveries of cars and motorcycles to Russia due to the start of a special operation in Ukraine. Together with her, Mazda announced the suspension of the export of spare parts and components for factories located in the country.

In autumn, Mazda decided to get rid of assets in Russia — the company sold a stake in a joint venture in Vladivostok to PJSC Sollers Auto for 1 euro. The Japanese manufacturer estimated the losses from leaving the Russian market at $ 82 million.

For 1 euro, they sold the Russian plant of the Japanese Nissan to local investors. At the same time, the company has the option of repurchasing assets for six years. Now the company in St. Petersburg produces Russian Lada X-Cross 5 cars.
